"The Entire Community Not Happy With Dangote" Okpella Leaders Speak On Crisis That Resulted In Shutdown Of BUA Mines
They disclosed the entire community is not happy with how Dangote instigated the shut down of the Mines being operated by BUA.
The community leaders claim the mines have directly and indirectly provided 10,000 jobs for people of the community in Estako East local government of Edo.
The jobs are currently under threats and the leaders fear the shutdown would spiral into an increase in the crime rates of the area.
Community leaders made known their feelings on the on going development in a chat with thenation.
They spoke through a representative who is a former council chairman of the area, Godwin Isichei.
He asserted that the way Dangote "is going about the whole process, the entire community is not happy".
Godwin who revealed that several meetings on boundary dispute he attended as chairman of Estako East spelt out the areas belonging to Edo and Kogi States.
He told the nation
“What Dangote is claiming is in Okene. What BUA inherited from Bendel Cement is Obuh. We don’t have Obuh at Okenne. There is no way Obuh can be in Okenne, Kogi State. The place should be opened to any investors. We are not asking Dangote not to come but the way he is going about the whole process, the entire community is not happy. He should not instigate the shutting down of BUA. Dangote does not have a Cement plant but BUA has a plant and has even expanded.
“It was wrong to shut the mining site when the matter is pending in court. Where is the order to close down the site. Obaseki can call both sides and resolved the issue. We do not want our community to be turned to a theatre of problem.”
