Osun Politician Kunle Adegoke Sends Goodwill Message To Muslims, Advises Against Vote Buying
An Osun State leading politician and international legal expert, Mr Kunle Rasheed Adegoke (K-Rad) has felicitated with Muslims on this year's Eid-l-Kabir celebrations. In a sallah message released by him, Adegoke admonishes Muslims to emulate Prophet Ibrahim in exhibiting patience and faith in all their day-to-day activities.
"While we celebrate, we should also pause to ponder on the lessons embedded in the event we commemorate. We are not just to dine and wine but to also inculcate the virtues of perseverance, piety and sacrifice in all our endeavours", Adegoke counseled.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart also seizes the opportunity to sensitise the Osun electorate on the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
According to the election litigation expert, "Our emulation of Prophet Ibrahim's piety (also known as Abraham in the Christendom) will not be complete without the readiness to make personal sacrifices. Such sacrifices are expected of us in the forthcoming governorship election in Osun State. We should not indulge in the shameful act of vote selling. Let us endeavour to sacrifice the one-day comfort for the long-term progress of the state, as the ultimate gain of the sacrifice will far outweigh the ridiculous proceed of the vote sale. Our youths should avoid being used as thugs by greedy and conscienceless politicians whose children are being educated within the comfort zones of affluence and distant safety but deploy children of the poor for rigging and brigandage."
The Osogbo-born politician also calls on religious leaders to continue to preach the need for self-sacrifice to their followers in choosing leaders rather than the prevalent decadence of vote sale and brigandage. He concluded the sallah message by advising the celebrants to be moderate in merrymaking while he urges the motorists to shun recklessness on the road for the safety of all.
