Billionaire Femi Otedola's Lagos Guber Ambition On Hold!

Though he is confirmed to have taken the plunge by accepting to become the candidate of the opposition party, there are strong indications Billionaire Femi Otedola may not eventually contest to become the next Governor of Lagos state.

Sources disclosed Otedola and his backers are waiting on the outcome of the struggle by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode to become party candidate.

Otedola who confirmed to the Boss newspaper that he has accepted the offer by People’s Democratic Party to become the party’s candidate for the Lagos state gubernatorial election is said to be hoping the internal crisis rocking the ruling All Progressives Congress continues and Ambode is denied the ticket.

Ambode and Otedola come from the same political zone – Epe.

“Otedola needs the APC crisis to continue and the strength of the party weakened to have a good chance of winning” a source disclosed to societynow.ng.

The All Progressives Congress in Lagos state is backed by formidable political machinery that has held on to power since 1999.

Former governor Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is the brain behind the intimidating political structure.

Ambode is accused of sidelining Tinubu and others who helped him to power after becoming Governor.

Societynow.ng learned Otedola and his backers are hoping the APC crisis which has thrown up two main contenders against Ambode for the party ticket continues and the incumbent is denied a return to office.

“But if peace is made and Ambode gets the ticket, Otedola is very likely to pull out of the race” societynow.ng learned.

Otedola is said to be obvious of the fact that opposition PDP is far from being a major force against a united APC.

Insiders disclosed the adoption of the “waiting game” is one of the major reasons Otedola has not gone on an all-out campaign.

The son of a former governor of Lagos state – Sir Micheal Otedola – is said to be on his annual vacation out of the country as the political storm in Lagos rages.
