Police Speaks On Invasion Of Dino Melaye's Home
The police say the country home of Dino Melaye, senator representing Kogi west, was invaded in an attempt to arrest him.
Melaye is wanted for the shooting of Danjuma Salihu, a police officer, by thugs said to be loyal to the lawmaker.
On Friday, the senator had alleged that the police officers were mobilised by the aide de camp of Kogi governor, Yahaya Bello, in a bid to assassinate him.
“I have profound evidence of this. I will take them up on this. I will write the UN and ICC,” he had said.
2 i/c mopol,OC SARS & 2 1/c SARS and 3 full load of policemen ilegally arranged by ADC to Kogi State Governor came to my country home in Aiyetoro Gbede to possibly assasinate me at 1am. I have profound evidence of this. I will take them up on this. I will write the UN and ICC.

But in a statement on Saturday, William Aya, spokesman of the Kogi police command, said the ADC had nothing to do with the matter.
“The ADC has nothing to do with this case,” the statement read.
“The command wish to state unequivocally that the statement is not only a figment of the imagination of Sen. Melaye who has mastered the art of political gimmickry, but totally false, malicious and highly mischievous.
“The commissioner of police sent police officers to his country home for arrest, unfortunately we did not get him at home.
“The senator is wanted by the Kogi state police command for criminal conspiracy, attempted culpable homicide and unlawful possession of firearms.”
Aya asked Melaye to report to the police command in Lokoja and answer the allegations against him.
He advised the senator to “stop joining issues with people who have nothing to do with the case at hand”.
